Hugh Robertson supports Invictus Games for Injured Servicemen

Sir Hugh Robertson, the Member of Parliament for Faversham and Mid Kent and the former Olympics and Paralympics Minister, has announced his support for this week’s Invictus Games for Injured Servicemen due to take place in and around The Olympic Park from Wednesday until Sunday. Hugh served in the army for over a decade seeing active service in Northern Ireland, The Gulf War and Bosnia and spearheaded a drive during London 2012 to encourage more injured servicemen to participate in the Paralympics.

The Invictus Games have been brought to London by HRH Prince Harry who was impressed by the 2013 Colorado Warrior Games. The competitors are all serving or ex military personnel and will compete across 9 adaptive sports. There are over 400 competitors drawn from 13 different nations.

‘Having both served in the army and been Minister for London 2012, I am very keen to do all that I can to help this fantastic initiative and encourage others to back these extraordinary individuals. Please come along to the Olympic Park over the next four days and show your support for all the injured servicemen who are taking part.’
