Faversham and Mid Kent select Helen Whately to replace Hugh Robertson

Last week, the Faversham and Mid Kent constituency selected Helen Whately to replace Sir Hugh Robertson as The Conservative candidate at the forthcoming General Election. Sir Hugh is standing down after 14 years as the area’s Member of Parliament.

Helen Whately currently works at McKinsey and contested Sutton and Cheam at the last General Election. After studying PPE at Oxford, she also worked at Pricewaterhouse Coopers and AOL Time Warner as well as representing the Great Britain junior eventing team, thus continuing the seat’s sporting connections.

Hugh said:
‘I am delighted that the Association selected Helen as the new candidate for the upcoming General Election. I have known her for nearly ten years and, walking around Faversham with her on Friday, it was clear that she will be an outstanding candidate in May.’
